Where can I fly my drone?
Every country publishes an official map of where drones can and cannot fly. Look at it before flying anywhere new: the zones in your drone's app come from the manufacturer and do not always match it, and the official one is what counts.
The official map in each country
Where you usually cannot fly
- Near airports and airfields, and in controlled airspace without permission.
- Over crowds and events, and in most countries over people who are not taking part in the flight.
- Over prisons, military sites, power stations and some government buildings.
- In many national parks and nature reserves.
- Higher than 120 m (400 ft) above the ground, almost everywhere.
Each country adds its own rules: drone laws by country.
How to find a good place
- Open country away from houses, roads and power lines, with the owner's permission if it is private land.
- Model flying club fields: they are made for it, and members are usually glad to help a new pilot. In the US, FAA-recognised identification areas (FRIA) are where drones without Remote ID can fly.
- Beaches and large parks outside busy hours, after checking the local bylaws: many towns do not allow drones in their parks.
- Once the map says yes, look at the place on a satellite view for cables and trees.
The flight screen of Animal Drone Rescue AI shows restricted airspace, trees, buildings and the known power lines on the same map.
A good reason to know your area
