Suggested search settings
- Height: 20 to 25 m above the ground. Higher than that, a dog becomes a few pixels in the video and is easy to miss.
- Camera: pointing straight down or at 60° for open ground; 45° helps to see under the edge of trees.
- Video: 4K or 2.7K if the drone has it, at the highest bit rate. Every frame is analysed.
- Subtitles: turn on video subtitles (.SRT) in the camera settings, so every detection lands on the map.
At 25 m, one battery of the DJI Phantom 4 Pro / Pro V2 covers 18 hectares, about 44 acres, in parallel lines. That assumes 20 % overlap between lines, 5 m/s and two thirds of the battery, keeping a reserve for wind and the way back. Thick cover or a hillside means more lines and less ground.
